Take a hike

Last weekend Rafe and I took an end-of-summer nature hike at the New Haven Potholes. It was a beautiful day for it, and we had the whole place to ourselves. We got a great look at some herons and cranes, found a wild turkey feather, and saw lots and lots (and lots) of little frogs. Of course my favorite things were the blooms, so here's a sampling:

Tomorrow I'll share some photos of those other sights I metioned, so stay tuned!

Goldenrod, fleabane, Queen Anne's lace - these are some of my favorite wildflowers! Great photos!

Oh, these are just gorgeous! I recognize all but the first photo. Queen Anne's Lace blooms always seems to have bugs hanging out on them!

Thanks for the link to Mitchell County nature sites, too! Good idea.

Does anyone know what that first one is with the orange flowers? I have a ton in my yard and wondered what it was called. The hummingbirds and bees love it.
